Former Premier Soccer League (PSL) General Manager and ex-FIFA referee Andile “Ace” Ncobo is facing serious legal challenges following allegations of domestic violence and fraud. In late June 2025, Ncobo was arrested on charges of assault and gender-based violence (GBV) after an incident in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, where he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in the presence of a minor.

Despite the complainant withdrawing the charges and submitting an affidavit stating she no longer wished to proceed, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has decided to continue the investigation. NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane emphasized the state’s commitment to protecting victims of GBV, stating, “We have a duty to verify whether the complainant is still at risk.”

Ncobo appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court, where Magistrate Bella Letoaba released him on a warning, imposing strict conditions, including compliance with a standing protection order and no interference with the complainant. The case has been postponed to August 3 for further investigation.

This legal issue adds to Ncobo’s mounting legal troubles. In May 2025, he and his wife, Salomie Twaise Ncobo, appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud and money laundering. The couple is accused of misappropriating over R15 million intended for school construction projects in the Eastern Cape. The charges allege that they submitted fraudulent documents to PetroSA, diverting funds meant for educational infrastructure.

In response to these allegations, Ncobo resigned from his role as a host on the “Extra Time” TV show on SuperSport, a position he had held for 13 years. He expressed confidence in the justice system, stating, “We trust in the integrity of our judicial system and believe the court will ultimately recognize that this case has no merit.”

The PSL has yet to comment on any potential actions regarding Ncobo’s position within the organization. The ongoing investigations into both the domestic violence and fraud cases continue to unfold, with authorities committed to ensuring accountability and justice.
