Spotify is reported to be planning another price rise for customers in the United States, possibly as soon as the first quarter of 2026. Major record labels have been pressing the company to lift rates so they match recent moves by video services.

Some analysts estimate that a one dollar monthly increase for U.S. users could add about $500 million to Spotify’s annual revenue. The company already raised prices in the U.S. in 2024. At that time the Family plan rose by $3 to $19.99 per month, the Duo plan went up by $2, and the Individual plan moved to $11.99. The Student plan stayed at $5.99.

Spotify has not confirmed specific plans or a firm timetable for the new increase. Any change would affect millions of subscribers and could redraw how users choose between music services.

If the company does raise prices, it will need to balance the higher income with the risk that some customers will cancel or switch to other platforms. Observers say Spotify may use targeted changes to reduce the impact on lower income users.

For now the plan remains under discussion and may evolve as Spotify responds to pressure from labels and to market trends. The company is expected to announce details if and when a final decision is made.
