As he spoke, Mashatile suddenly became disoriented and fainted, requiring assistance from security personnel.

The collapse was attributed to extreme heat, with temperatures soaring to 39°C (102°F), and dehydration was identified as a primary cause. Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, who was present at the event, explained that the Deputy President had been treated immediately by medical personnel on-site and confirmed he was in stable condition. She assured the public that there were no underlying health concerns and that Mashatile was expected to make a full recovery.
