The Socio Economic Rights and Accountability Project has called on Bola Tinubu to order a full investigation into the alleged missing or diverted ₦2.9 billion from two major government agencies. The organisation urged immediate action to ensure accountability and recovery of public funds.

In a letter dated April 11, 2026, SERAP specifically asked the president to direct Bosun Tijani, along with the leadership of Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited and Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority, to explain the whereabouts of the funds flagged in the latest report by the Auditor General.

The group also urged Lateef bemi and anti corruption agencies to investigate the allegations and prosecute anyone found responsible. SERAP stressed that recovered funds should be returned to the national treasury.

According to the Auditor General report published in September 2025, NIGCOMSAT allegedly failed to account for ₦465 million linked to an unauthorised investment in Gicell Wireless Ltd. The investment reportedly lacked proper approvals and supporting documentation, raising concerns about possible diversion of funds.

The report also highlighted irregularities in NNRA, including over ₦4 million spent on training programmes without evidence that they took place. Additionally, more than ₦16 million was reportedly spent on ICT equipment without proper approvals, with fears that the items may not have been supplied.

SERAP described the allegations as a serious breach of public trust and warned that failure to act could weaken Nigeria’s anti corruption framework and undermine confidence in public institutions. The organisation gave the government seven days to respond or face legal action.
