Senegal have lifted the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title once again, emerging victorious in a dramatic final against hosts Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. After a tense and controversial match that remained goalless in regular time, Senegal secured a 1–0 win in extra time to claim the championship.

The decisive moment came when Pape Gueye scored the match-winning goal in extra time, giving the Teranga Lions the edge over Morocco and securing their second continental title in history.

The final was marked by significant drama. In stoppage time, Senegal had a goal disallowed and Morocco was awarded a contentious penalty, which seemed set to decide the match. In protest, Senegal’s players briefly left the pitch, but returned after persuasion by captain Sadio Mané, allowing the game to continue. Morocco’s Brahim Díaz had the penalty saved by Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, keeping the score level and pushing the game into extra time.
