Seattle Sounders FC has bolstered its attacking options by signing forward Osaze De Rosario to a one-year contract, with club options for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The 23-year-old Guyana international joins the Sounders from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, Tacoma Defiance, where he has been in impressive form.

De Rosario’s journey to the Sounders began in March 2024 when he joined Tacoma Defiance. In his first season, he netted six goals in 22 appearances, contributing to the team’s advancement to the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference Semifinals. His performance in 2025 has been even more remarkable; through five matches, he leads the league with eight goals and added two more during Defiance’s 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup run.

Amorim acknowledges frustrations of Mainoo and Zirkzee, but prioritizes the club.

Prior to his time with Tacoma, De Rosario played for York United FC in the Canadian Premier League from 2022 to 2023. Over 57 appearances, he scored 19 goals and provided six assists across all competitions. His international experience includes seven caps for Guyana, during which he scored five goals, including a hat-trick against Barbados in the 2024-2025 Concacaf Nations League.

Sounders FC General Manager and Chief Soccer Officer Craig Waibel expressed confidence in De Rosario’s potential, stating, “Osaze has taken full advantage of his time with our staff with Defiance. He is currently performing at a high level and is showing the kind of professional growth we value.”

Head Coach Brian Schmetzer also highlighted De Rosario’s development, noting, “His performance with Tacoma Defiance has been consistently strong since he joined the club last year. He’s shown an admirable work rate and a real striker’s instinct in front of goal.

De Rosario is the son of Dwayne De Rosario, a seven-time MLS All-Star and 2011 MLS MVP, who scored 104 goals in MLS and won four MLS Cups. This connection adds an extra layer of excitement as Osaze looks to make his own mark in Major League Soccer.

The Sounders are eager to integrate De Rosario into their squad, with expectations that he will continue to develop and contribute significantly at the MLS level.
