Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State to remain united and focused as the party enters a critical stage in its rebuilding efforts ahead of future elections.

Speaking during a pre national convention dinner held in Abuja, Saraki addressed delegates, aspirants, and party stakeholders, describing the upcoming convention as a defining moment for the party’s future in Kwara. He stressed that the exercise would determine the PDP’s readiness to present a credible alternative to the current administration in the state.

Saraki noted that the convention represents the final phase in repositioning the party for electoral success. He urged aspirants to approach the process with maturity and a collective mindset, warning that internal conflicts could weaken the party’s chances. According to him, victory for the PDP should remain the ultimate goal rather than personal ambition.

He also emphasized the importance of grassroots mobilisation after the convention, encouraging party leaders to strengthen engagement at ward and local government levels. This, he said, is essential for rebuilding trust and reconnecting with the electorate across Kwara State.

In addition, Saraki extended an olive branch to members of other political camps, assuring them that the PDP remains open and inclusive. He expressed confidence that the party can accommodate more supporters willing to contribute to the development of the state.

The former governor criticised the current administration in Kwara, describing it as a poor representation of the state’s potential. He, however, expressed optimism that the PDP would regain power and reposition the state for growth and prosperity.

The PDP has been working to rebuild its structure and strengthen unity in Kwara since losing power in the 2019 general elections, with ongoing efforts focused on grassroots engagement and internal cohesion.
