Saint Lucia’s Lucian Carnival 2025 reached its pinnacle with the Parade of the Bands, where Tribe of Twel emerged as the dominant force, securing the coveted Band of the Year title for the second consecutive year. The event, held on July 21 and 22, saw over 7,000 revelers from ten participating bands lighting up the streets of Castries.
Tribe of Twel’s triumph was underscored by their impressive performances in the King and Queen of the Bands competition. Their portrayal of “Madame Vaval” by Sharon Tanner clinched the Queen of the Band title with a score of 431, while “Unto Us A Child is Born” by Jordan Augier secured the King of the Band title with a score of 453.
The Parade of the Bands route commenced at the Choc Roundabout, proceeding southward to the Vigie Roundabout, then turning onto the John Compton Highway into the city. Bands showcased their vibrant costumes and themes, with Tribe of Twel’s “Bel Wad ek Soulye” paying homage to tradition. Other notable bands included Xuvo Carnival Band with “Isle of Angels,” Just 4 Fun Carnival Band celebrating “25 Years of MAS,” and Fuzion Mas with “Zariah.”
The streets were alive with pulsating soca anthems, including hits like Ezra D’Funmachine’s “Miserable,” Dezral and Jardel’s “Car,” and Ricky T and Hollywood HP’s “Freakout,” fueling the joy of masqueraders and ensuring non-stop action from start to finish.
As the festivities concluded, Tribe of Twel’s back-to-back victories in the Band of the Year and King and Queen of the Bands competitions solidified their reputation as the leading carnival band in Saint Lucia, leaving an indelible mark on Lucian Carnival 2025.
