Rivers State Man Allegedly Kills Brother Over Witchcraft Accusation

A tragic incident occurred in Ofeh Community, Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, where a man, Nwalozie Chiwendu, allegedly killed his brother, Chidiebere Isaiah, over claims of witchcraft on Thursday evening.

Reports indicate that Chiwendu accused his elder brother of causing his stagnation in life and attacked him with a machete, fatally injuring him. The victim was rushed to a hospital, but reportedly died before receiving medical attention. Following the incident, Chiwendu fled the scene and is currently being pursued by community members and law enforcement.

The Youth President of Ofeh Community, Mr Chinonso Chima, described the act as “unfortunate” and confirmed that the matter has been reported to the local police. The victim’s body was later deposited in the mortuary with police approval, and calm has reportedly returned to the community.

The Rivers State Police Command, through Public Relations Officer Chief Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and stated that a manhunt is ongoing to apprehend Chiwendu. Investigations into the case are continuing.
