A member of the House of Representatives representing Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo and Bunza Federal Constituency, Ibrahim Mohammed, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, citing ongoing leadership crises and internal conflicts.

In a statement announcing his defection, Mohammed expressed concern over what he described as persistent inility within the party, including unresolved leadership disputes and prolonged litigations. According to him, these challenges have significantly weakened the party’s effectiveness as a credible political platform.

The lawmaker, who is the son of former PDP National Chairman Bello Haliru Mohammed, noted that the internal situation has made it increasingly difficult for dedicated members to contribute meaningfully to the party’s development and democratic responsibilities.

Following consultations with constituents and key political stakeholders, Mohammed confirmed that he has now joined the All Progressives Congress. He explained that the move was driven by the need to better serve his constituency and improve his capacity for effective representation.

He also disclosed that his resignation letter has been submitted to his ward chairman in Nasarawa 1 Ward, while the leadership of the House, including the Speaker, has been formally notified of his decision.

The defection adds to the ongoing political shifts within Nigeria’s party landscape, as internal party dynamics continue to influence alignments ahead of future elections.
