Real Madrid has intensified its legal battle against Barcelona by formally requesting access to a broad range of financial and internal documents from the Catalan club covering the years 2010 to 2018. This move highlights the deepening rift between the two football giants, with any previous sense of institutional harmony now clearly dissolved.

The request comes amid ongoing judicial proceedings concerning payments made by Barcelona to José María Enríquez Negreira, the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees. Following a recent court session where Real Madrid’s lawyer subjected Barcelona president Joan Laporta to tough questioning, the Merengues have escalated their efforts to uncover the truth.

Real Madrid’s demands include All internal audits conducted by Barcelona between 2010 and 2018 that identify, examine, and validate payments made to companies such as Dasnil 95, S.L., Nilsad, S.C.P., Soccercam, S.L., Best Norton, S.L., Tresep 2014, S.L., and Radamanto, S.L., including details on the authors and recipients of these reports within the club, Annual financial statements and corresponding independent external audit reports approved by Barcelona during the same period and minutes from meetings of Barcelona’s Tax Governance Committee where payments to the mentioned companies were reviewed for fiscal and tax compliance.

Additionally, Real Madrid has asked the courts to consider a 2009 statement by Joan Laporta, in which he said:
“Real Madrid signing a former referee? I’m sure they know what they’re doing, but for us, we respect the refereeing institution and structure, they do their job well, we won’t be making any signing like that, and we don’t know that market anyway.”

This statement is seen as contradictory to Laporta’s current claim that the payments to Negreira were for legitimate refereeing reports.

With these actions, Real Madrid is pushing for full transparency regarding Barcelona’s financial dealings related to the Negreira case, signaling their determination to pursue the matter thoroughly through legal channels.
