President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following his trips to England and France. The presidency announced his return on Saturday night, sharing footage of the presidential jet landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, also confirmed the President’s return, stating, “The President is back” in a text message.
The President departed Abuja on Wednesday, October 2, for a two-week working vacation as part of his annual leave, according to a statement issued by Onanuga. The statement read:
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for the United Kingdom to begin a two-week vacation, part of his yearly leave. He will use the two weeks as a working vacation and a retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms. He will return to the country after the leave expires.”
On October 11, Tinubu left the UK for Paris, France, for an “important engagement,” as explained by his Senior Special Assistant on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari.
Upon his return, Tinubu was welcomed by various dignitaries, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; and several ministers such as Wale Edun (Finance), Abubakar Atiku Bagudu (Budget and Economic Planning), Nuhu Ribadu (National Security Adviser), and Abdullahi Ganduje (National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)).
Although the presidency initially stated that Tinubu’s trip would last two weeks, it was noted that he spent additional days abroad.
When Tinubu’s expected return date passed, Vice-President Kashim Shettima embarked on a two-day trip to Sweden. Despite criticism from some quarters regarding the absence of both the President and Vice-President, the presidency assured the public that there was no leadership vacuum during this period.
I dont trust Tinubus sudden return. Whats he really up to? Cant shake this feeling of political maneuvering.
I think its suspicious that Tinubu only goes to European countries. Whats he really up to? #TinubuMystery #NigeriaPolitics
Maybe hes just enjoying a vacation? Not everything has to be a conspiracy. #Relax #TinubuTravel
I dont trust Tinubus sudden return. What shady deals did he make in England and France? Something fishy is going on.
I cant believe Tinubus secret agenda in France is being ignored. Whats he up to? Stay woke, people!
I cant believe Tinubu is back already! Do you think hes secretly planning to run for president in the next election? 🤔
Tinubu should focus on local issues instead of globe-trotting. Nigeria needs leadership at home, not overseas adventures. #JustSaying 🤷♂️
I cant believe Tinubu is making all these trips while the country is facing so many issues. Priorities, man!
Maybe hes trying to address those issues by forming connections and seeking solutions.
I dont trust politicians who travel too much. What are they hiding? Tinubu should focus on fixing Nigeria first.
I think President Tinubu should focus on local issues instead of globetrotting. Nigeria needs leadership at home, not abroad.
Tinubus leadership can benefit from global perspectives. Strong local and international presence is essential.
I think President Tinubu should have stayed longer in France for some croissant diplomacy. Nigeria needs those French pastries!
