President Bola Tinubu has admitted that Nigeria is currently facing significant economic hardship. Speaking during a meeting with the Forum of Former Presiding Officers of the National Assembly, led by former Senate President Ken Nnamani, Tinubu attributed the challenges to the decisions and inaction of previous administrations.

The president, while addressing the delegation in Abuja, recognized the difficulties many Nigerians are experiencing but pointed out that the current situation is the result of accumulated issues from the past. Tinubu emphasized that while his administration inherited a number of complex problems, he remains optimistic that Nigeria can overcome its challenges through collaboration and inclusive governance.

In his remarks, Tinubu highlighted the importance of working together with various stakeholders, including the National Assembly, to bring about lasting reforms. He expressed confidence that Nigeria can make progress, but stressed that it requires a collective effort from all parts of society to ensure the success of his administration’s policies.

Since taking office, Tinubu’s government has rolled out several reform measures, including the removal of fuel subsidies and adjustments to the foreign exchange system, which have sparked both praise and criticism. While these reforms are seen as crucial for long-term growth, they have also led to short-term economic pain, particularly affecting everyday Nigerians.

The president assured the former presiding officers that his administration is committed to alleviating the hardship and improving the economic conditions of the country. He reaffirmed his belief in Nigeria’s potential to achieve sustainable development if there is unity and a shared sense of purpose.

As Nigeria navigates through these challenging times, Tinubu’s call for collaboration and inclusiveness signals a government intent on addressing both the immediate economic struggles and laying the foundation for future growth.
