President Bola Tinubu left Lagos on Sunday for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of an official visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
He is set to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit, following an invitation from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The summit, scheduled for early January, will gather leaders from government, business, and civil society to discuss sustainable development.
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the weeklong event will focus on the theme, “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” emphasizing the connection between innovation, finance, and people to promote sustainable growth.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit. His trip follows recent official visits to Borno and Bauchi states and a brief stay in Lagos for the holidays.
Upon arrival in Lagos, he was welcomed at the presidential wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, government officials, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress.
