Peter Obi’s media office has rejected reports that the former presidential candidate criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in a recent interview, calling the footage false and malicious.

The claims came because of a YouTube upload by a channel named “Advocacy for Good Governance,” which purportedly quoted Obi as saying the ADC was struggling over unresolved zoning and power-rotation issues. In a statement released on Friday and signed by spokesman Ibrahim Umar, the Peter Obi Media Office (POMR) said no such interview took place and that the circulated assertions are fabricated.

POMR emphasised that Obi has publicly expressed confidence in the ADC’s leadership under former Senate President David Mark and that his public posture has been one of partnership rather than attack. The statement stressed Obi’s ongoing focus on unity and coalition-building to tackle poverty, poor governance and economic hardship.

“The Peter Obi Media Office categorically disclaims any suggestion that Mr. Obi granted the claimed interview or made remarks against the ADC,” the release said, adding that the narrative contradicts Obi’s consistent calls for cooperation among groups committed to democratic reform.

POMR urged the public and ADC officials in particular to treat the viral material as deliberate misinformation engineered by political operatives intent on sowing division and distracting opposition forces from shared goals. The media office called for caution and verification of sources before accepting or amplifying such content.
