The South-South Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Ogidi, has reaffirmed that the suspensions of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and other party members remain in force.

Ogidi made the clarification on Wednesday while speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, dismissing contrary claims as baseless.

According to him, those affected by the disciplinary action are merely engaging in what he described as “noise,” insisting that the party’s position is clear.

“Nigerians know the truth. They are just making noise. They’ve been expelled,” Ogidi said.

He recalled that during its national convention held in November in Ibadan, Oyo State, the PDP expelled Wike, Fayose, former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and eight others over alleged anti-party activities. The party said their actions were inconsistent with its collective interest and subsequently issued certificates of expulsion to them.

Following the decision, a faction of the PDP loyal to Wike announced the expulsion of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and other party leaders who supported the move, further deepening the internal crisis.

Despite the convention’s decision, Wike has continued to maintain that he remains a member of the PDP. He has repeatedly called on the party leadership to put its house in order, warning that continued internal division could weaken the PDP as an effective opposition.

Wike made the remarks while reacting to the defection of some PDP lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly to the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging unity among remaining members to keep the party relevant.
