The Peoples Democratic Party under Kabiru Turaki has issued formal expulsion certificates to 11 people, including the Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and former Ekiti governor Ayodele Fayose. The certificates reflect decisions made at the party’s national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Turaki showed the documents during a press briefing at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro. He said the action was taken to enforce the convention’s rulings and to avoid any breach of the law on holding membership in more than one party.
He explained that Nigerian law does not allow dual party membership. With that in mind, the party moved to make the expelled status official by issuing written proof. Turaki displayed each certificate in turn and said the originals have been sent to the affected individuals by courier.
The names listed for the certificates included Nyesom Wike, Ayodele Fayose, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Honourable Umaru Bature, SAN Kamarudeen Ajibade, Abdurahman Muhammad, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Nnanna, George Turna, and Chief Dan Orbih.
Turaki asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Nigerian Police Force and other security bodies to note that these 11 people are no longer members of the PDP.
