Parallex Bank Plc has reiterated its strong commitment to nurturing African youth talent through its sponsorship of the 2025 edition of the Future Africa Leaders Awards (FALA), an initiative that celebrates young Africans making exceptional contributions to development across the continent.

In a statement released on Monday, the bank disclosed that the 2025 awards, organised by the Future Africa Leaders Foundation, recognised 10 outstanding young leaders whose projects have delivered measurable impact in areas such as education, technology, healthcare, agriculture, community service and social innovation. The awards aim to spotlight innovative solutions driven by young Africans who are actively transforming their communities.

The star prize for the 2025 edition was awarded to Rejoice Waithera, a 23-year-old Kenyan agripreneur and humanitarian. Her work in food security, waste management and community health was described as transformative, scalable and impactful, reflecting the core values of the awards.
Speaking at the public presentation of the winners, the Managing Director of Parallex Bank, Dr Olufemi Bakre, said the bank’s support for the initiative underscores its belief in Africa’s youthful population as a catalyst for sustainable development.

Represented by the Head of Brands and Communication, Mr Ademola Adeshola, Bakre highlighted Nigeria’s unique demographic advantage, noting that nearly 70 per cent of the population is under the age of 30.
He described Africa’s young population as a powerful force capable of driving innovation, accelerating economic growth and redefining leadership norms, provided they are given access to the right platforms, resources and mentorship. Bakre added that Parallex Bank’s involvement aligns with its long-term strategy to empower young people and expand leadership capacity across Africa.

Commending the 2025 FALA winners and ambassadors, Bakre praised their courage, resilience and ingenuity, encouraging them to lead with integrity and a deep sense of responsibility toward Africa’s development. He also lauded the Future Africa Leaders Foundation for its consistent investment in youth leadership, noting that its efforts continue to inspire hope and build a lasting legacy of impactful leadership across the continent.
