The Chairman of the Transitional Leadership Team of the African Democratic Congress in Nasarawa State, John Michael Abdul, has disclosed that more than 400000 people have indicated interest in joining the party across the state.
Michael Abdul made the announcement during an expanded stakeholders meeting held in Lafia. The former Deputy Governor described the development as a major boost to the party’s ambition to secure victory in the 2027 general elections in Nasarawa State and beyond.
According to him, the prospective members have submitted their names and personal details to a committee established to oversee membership registration in all the 13 Local Government Areas of the state. He expressed optimism that the growing support reflected the confidence people have in the leadership and antecedents of the party’s key figures.
He further assured stakeholders that membership cards would soon be issued and that the party would commence an online registration drive to maintain both digital and physical records across the 147 electoral wards in the state.
Speaking at the meeting, the National Deputy Chairman of the party, Patricia Akwashiki, formally received decampees from the Labour Party led by Engr Gambo Abdullahi Balarebe. She welcomed the new members and promised a level playing field for all, regardless of when they joined the party.
Akwashiki, a former minister and senator representing Nasarawa North, described the ADC as the present and future of Nigeria, noting that the party possesses experienced and competent individuals capable of addressing the nation’s challenges.
Also speaking, Suleiman Adokwe, Chief of Staff to the National Chairman, David Mark, emphasised that the party would uphold justice and equity by ensuring that only candidates who emerge through credible primaries would represent the party in elections.
