In a deeply disturbing incident that has rocked Ugbomoro in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, a 13-year-old girl, described as mentally unstable, was allegedly gang-raped by four young men. The incident, which took place on January 24, has sparked significant community outrage and demands for justice from the victim’s family.

According to reports gathered by SaharaReporters, the young girl was tricked into going to a house while on an evening errand. A source close to the matter stated, “They raped the girl till daybreak,” highlighting the brutal nature of the assault. This has not only brought the safety of minors into sharp focus but has also prompted the community to call for swift and stringent action from local authorities.

Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, acknowledging the severity of the case. He stated that one suspect has been apprehended, but three others are still at large. “Yes, it’s true. The girl involved is mentally unstable. We have arrested one suspect while three others are on the run,” Edafe disclosed to SaharaReporters.

The police have assured the public that they are actively pursuing the remaining suspects, emphasizing their commitment to bringing all perpetrators to justice.
