About 700 youths in Osun State have registered for the state’s first ever creative seminar, which is targeted at driving economic development. Mr. Bamikole Omisore, the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), announced this during a press briefing in Osogbo.
The seminar, set to take place from January 28 to 30 at the SDG Skills Acquisition Centre in Iragbiji, aims to harness creativity as a tool for economic and sustainable development. The program will specifically focus on Goals 8, 9, and 11 of the SDGs, which encompass decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, and sustainable cities and communities, respectively.
Omisore emphasized that this initiative reflects Governor Adeleke’s administration’s dedication to promoting economic growth through innovation and creativity. The seminar’s theme, “Innovate, Create and Transform: Unlocking the Creative Economy for Sustainable Development,” underscores the event’s goal to demonstrate how creativity can contribute significantly to both economic and sustainable development.
The seminar is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, the Agency on Creativity, Entertainment and Art, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, alongside private sector leaders and development partners. Their collective aim is to create a unique conference experience that will inspire and equip young participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to Osun State’s economic landscape through creative industries.
