Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has warned the contractor handling the Lagere flyover and road dualisation in Ile Ife against further delays, insisting that the projects must meet the April deadline.

A statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson Olawale Rasheed said Adeleke made the directive during an inspection of the projects, accompanied by Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi and Commissioner for Special Duties Bashiru Salami.

“I am dissatisfied with the slow pace of work on this project. This is totally unacceptable. We will not tolerate any further delay. I have promised our father the Oonirisa and people of Ile Ife early completion. There should be no room for any further delay,” Adeleke said.

Before inspecting the flyover, Adeleke flagged off the rehabilitation of Gbalefefefe Omi Igbin Koola Asabi Famia Road in Modakeke, assuring residents of ongoing projects including the completed Celestial Ajape and AP Oronna roads.

“My good people of Modakeke, I am here again to deliver the dividends of democracy. We are a government that brings verifiable developments across all facets of life,” he said.

The Ogunsua of Modakeke Oba Joseph Toriola commended Adeleke’s attention to the town’s developmental needs and pledged continuous support.

Reports indicate that the Lagere flyover, awarded to Sammya Nigeria Limited at N14.9 billion, is scheduled for completion within 12 months. Adeleke also revealed that rehabilitation work has commenced on 55.86 kilometres of local government roads across Ife land at a cost of N30.6 billion.

He enumerated completed projects in the four local government areas in Ife land and assured that efforts would continue to improve infrastructure in recognition of Ile Ife’s status as the cradle of the Yoruba race.
