Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North Senatorial District, has expressed strong confidence that the continued support of his constituents will secure his re-election, insisting that his electoral victories have always been based on the genuine votes of the people.

Speaking to journalists at his residence in Igbere on Thursday, the former Abia State governor said he has never won any election through rigging or manipulation, stressing that he does not believe in electoral malpractice as a means of gaining political power.

Kalu made the remarks while reacting to recent comments by Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, concerning the issue of election rigging in the state. Although Otti did not mention him directly, the senator said it was important to clarify his position and defend his political record.

“I have never rigged elections and I will never support that. I only want the will of the people to prevail,” Kalu stated.

He emphasized that his past successes at the polls, both as governor and as a senator, were achieved through popular support and not through any form of electoral fraud. According to him, his long-standing relationship with the people of Abia North and his contributions to their development have earned him their trust and loyalty.

The senator further expressed confidence that this support would once again translate into victory in future elections, noting that the electorate remains the ultimate determinant of political leadership.

In addition, Kalu accused Governor Otti of allowing his media aides to attack him on social media platforms. He claimed that these online attacks were unnecessary and capable of heightening political tension in the state.

Kalu called for a more issue-based and respectful political discourse, urging leaders and their supporters to focus on governance, development, and the welfare of the people rather than engaging in personal attacks.

He concluded by reiterating his commitment to democratic principles and fair elections, saying that only a credible electoral process can strengthen democracy and promote lasting peace in Abia State.
