Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police Alabi Abiodun has confirmed the arrest of several individuals involved in electoral offenses during last Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State. Speaking at a post-election briefing, Abiodun emphasized that while there were minor incidents, the proactive deployment of security personnel ensured a peaceful and credible electoral process.

Effective Security Deployment
Abiodun described the incidents recorded during the polls as “inconsequential,” crediting the professionalism and dedication of the security agencies for maintaining order. He noted that the election, from the preparatory phase to the final announcement of results, was managed with a high degree of integrity and commitment to safeguarding democracy.

“We ensured that electoral activities were secured with the highest level of professionalism. Security agencies worked in synergy to guarantee that the process remained peaceful, free, and credible,” he stated.

Commitment to Post-Election Peace
The DIG reassured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies remain committed to maintaining peace beyond the election. Tactical teams have been placed on high alert to prevent any actions that could disrupt public order.
