Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed that his administration remains firmly committed to delivering visible, people-centred development across the state, stressing that nothing will distract his government from fulfilling its mandate.
The governor made this known at a town hall meeting in Benin City with members of the Akpakomiza Movement for Tinubu, also known as Team FIGO-Connect. He reminded supporters that the mandate given to him by Edo people was clear and centred on development.
According to Okpebholo, his vision is to transform Edo from what he described as an ancient city into a modern one, adding that all ongoing projects are driven by the real needs of communities rather than political or personal interests. He noted that his leadership approach is shaped by firsthand exposure to the challenges faced by residents across the state.
Recalling a campaign visit to Temboga, the governor said the severity of gully erosion in the area deeply influenced his development priorities. He explained that he made a promise to return and address the problem if elected, a promise he said has now been fulfilled with visible results.
The governor emphasised that development should be seen as a collective achievement, not a personal success, noting that his administration exists because of the support of Edo people. He also stressed accountability, stating that despite receiving the same statutory allocation as previous governments, his administration has chosen to invest in projects with long-term impact.
Okpebholo commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as bold and beneficial to the common man. He highlighted the removal of fuel subsidy and recent tax reforms, noting that Nigerians earning below ₦150,000 are now exempt from paying tax.
The meeting also witnessed a major political development as members of the Labour Party’s Obedient Movement in Edo State announced the collapse of their structures and declared support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing confidence in his reform agenda.
