In a fierce clash at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs narrowly defeated No. 23 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 16-9, marking their eighth straight win in the historic “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” rivalry. The Bulldogs, now at 11-1, benefitted from stellar contributions from running back Nate Frazier, who rushed for 108 yards, and quarterback Gunner Stockton, who threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Zachariah Branch in the second quarter, giving Georgia a 10-3 advantage.

Georgia Tech (9-3) initiated scoring with a 30-yard field goal from Aidan Birr in the first quarter. Despite several promising drives, they struggled to reach the end zone, with Birr adding two more field goals, including a 41-yarder late in the fourth, reducing the deficit to 16-9.

Georgia’s defense played a pivotal role, limiting Tech to just 69 rushing yards and preventing any touchdowns. The game concluded dramatically, with Georgia defending against a last-second Hail Mary from Georgia Tech’s Haynes King, ensuring their victory as time expired.

This win not only extended Georgia’s winning streak in this rivalry but also strengthened their position in the College Football Playoff race, keeping their hopes alive for a top-four seed. The Bulldogs await outcomes from other conference championship games for potential next steps. Conversely, Georgia Tech ended their regular season with three losses in their last four games, indicating areas needing improvement as they look toward postseason play. The matchup was defined by strong defensive efforts, with Georgia’s defense ultimately being the decisive factor in this tightly contested rivalry game.
