In a significant breakthrough, troops of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have successfully apprehended ten suspects in Taraba State. Among those arrested are eight Boko Haram terrorists and two notorious kidnapping informants. This operation marks a major achievement in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and criminal activity in the region.
The arrests were confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday by Captain Olubodunde Oni, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, in Jalingo. According to the statement, the successful operation followed a carefully planned raid carried out on September 29, 2024, targeting the residence of Tukura Abdul-Kareem, a suspected Boko Haram leader, in the Sunkani Ward of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, Taraba State.
During the operation, Abdul-Kareem and seven other Boko Haram members were apprehended. The raid, which was strategically executed by the Nigerian Army, aimed to disrupt the activities of Boko Haram cells operating in the area and to dismantle criminal networks providing support to kidnappers.
In addition to the eight Boko Haram suspects, two kidnapping informants were also arrested. These individuals are believed to have played key roles in providing intelligence and logistical support to kidnappers in the region, further complicating the security situation in Taraba State. Their arrest is expected to curtail the coordination between terror groups and criminal elements that have been responsible for numerous incidents of violence and insecurity in the state.
The Nigerian Army’s recent success is being hailed as a critical step in the fight against Boko Haram and other criminal activities that threaten the safety of citizens. As military operations continue, authorities have vowed to intensify efforts to root out insurgency and restore peace in affected regions.
I think the Nigerian Army should just let Boko Haram go free. Maybe they just need a hug, you know? #FreeHugsForTerrorists 🤗
Im not convinced the Nigerian Army is doing enough to address the root causes of terrorism. We need more sustainable solutions.

I dont buy it, maybe the Nigerian Army is just creating drama for attention. Can we trust their motives?
I think the Nigerian Army should just wipe out all Boko Haram members once and for all. No more negotiations.
I think we should hear the terrorists side of the story before jumping to conclusions. Maybe theres more to this than we know.
Absolutely not. Terrorists deliberately inflict harm on innocent people. There is no justification for their actions.
I dont trust the Nigerian Armys motives in this. Are they really fighting terrorism or just targeting innocent civilians? #QuestionEverything
I think the Nigerian Army needs to focus more on rehabilitation than apprehension. Lets break the cycle of violence!
Rehabilitation wont work without apprehending and holding accountable those responsible for violence.

I think the Nigerian Army should focus more on rehabilitation and education for captured terrorists instead of just apprehending them.
I think the Nigerian Army should negotiate with Boko Haram instead of apprehending them. Dialogue is key to peace.
