Tinubu Urges Peaceful Conduct Ahead of FCT, Rivers, and Kano Elections
President Bola Tinubu on Friday called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), voters, and security agencies to act responsibly during Saturday’s elections in the Federal Capital Territory, Rivers, and Kano states. INEC will conduct six area council elections in the FCT and by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II in Rivers, as well as Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies.

Tinubu urged voters to participate without fear, emphasizing that “the democratic process thrives best in an atmosphere of calm, tolerance, and mutual respect.” He appealed to political parties and supporters to avoid violence and warned security personnel against intimidation or high handedness. The president also urged INEC to ensure smooth accreditation, accurate collation, and prompt transmission of results in line with the 2026 Electoral Act.

President Tinubu expressed grief over the death of Rear Admiral Musa Katagum, Chief of Naval Operations, who passed away on February 19, 2026, after a prolonged illness. He commended Katagum for his courage, leadership, and mentorship and prayed that Almighty Allah grant him eternal rest while comforting his family and colleagues.

Lagos Ports Receive Over 10 Ships Awaiting Discharge
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) reported that more than 10 ships are currently at Lekki, Tincan, and Apapa ports, awaiting discharge of bulk urea, general cargo, containers, aviation fuel, diesel, and crude oil. Between February 20–28, 38 more vessels carrying petroleum products, food items, and other goods are expected to arrive. Seventeen ships are already unloading containers, bulk wheat, sugar, diesel, and other cargo.

Zamfara Governor Donates Cars to 40 Imams
Governor Dauda Lawal donated vehicles to 40 Jumma’at Mosque imams to improve mobility for preaching and community outreach. The first phase of the initiative aims to support religious leaders across the state’s 14 local government areas. Imams commended the governor, pledging to promote peace, unity, and moral values in their communities.
