The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of Mr. Sunday Ndidi, father of Super Eagles captain and midfield star, Wilfred Ndidi, who reportedly died in a tragic automobile accident.

In a condolence message, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, described the incident as devastating, noting that the loss came at a time when the national team captain had recently given his all for the country on the continental stage.

“This is very sad,” Sanusi said. “The player just gave his very best to the nation at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco, where we finished with the bronze medals. He returned to Turkey with great motivation and high hopes of helping his club win silverware this season, and also helping the Super Eagles reach new heights this year.”

Sanusi added that the football fraternity was still in shock over the development and could barely find the words to express its grief. He offered prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul and comfort for the bereaved family.
