Netflix has announced it will add a soccer simulation game to its gaming portfolio, timed to coincide with the FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament. The game will be developed and published by Delphi Interactive in partnership with FIFA, the sport’s governing body.
The new soccer title is set to launch in time for the World Cup, which begins in June 2026 in the United States. This move is part of Netflix’s broader push into video gaming, aiming to leverage the global excitement around the tournament.
Delphi Interactive, also known for working on the premium James Bond game “007 First Light,” is leading the development. The game will join Netflix’s existing lineup of games playable on televisions, including party games like “LEGO Party!” and “Pictionary: Game Night,” where phones serve as controllers.
Netflix is also reportedly the front-runner in a bidding war to acquire several Warner Bros Discovery assets, including its well known video game studios. This acquisition would give Netflix access to major franchises such as “Mortal Kombat,” “Batman Arkham,” and “Hogwarts Legacy,” helping the streaming giant enter the lucrative big budget gaming market.
Despite heavy investments, Netflix’s gaming efforts have faced challenges, with a focus so far on party games and popular franchises like Rockstar Games’ “GTA: San Andreas” and “Red Dead Redemption.” The new FIFA soccer simulation represents a significant step toward expanding Netflix’s presence in the sports gaming genre.
