NERC Reports Metering Rate Rises to 57 Percent in December 2025

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has reported that the national metering rate in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry rose to 57.27 percent in December 2025, up from 56.54 percent in November 2025.

According to the November and December 2025 Metering Status of Distribution Companies factsheet released by NERC, a total of 109,556 customers were newly metered in December, an increase from 88,592 in November. The total number of metered customers reached 6,966,584 out of 12,163,412 active electricity consumers across the country.

The factsheet highlighted the top performing distribution companies, with Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, Eko Electricity Distribution Company, and Abuja Electricity Distribution Company leading the sector with metering levels above 76 percent.

NERC emphasized that the steady increase in metering aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance transparency, revenue collection, and service delivery in the power sector. The agency continues to encourage DisCos to accelerate customer metering to ensure equitable billing and improved electricity supply management.

The factsheet provides a detailed breakdown of metering progress across the country and is part of NERC’s ongoing commitment to monitoring and reporting electricity infrastructure development.
