Senator Ned Nwoko has publicly addressed the renewed controversy surrounding the age of his wife, actress Regina Daniels, at the time of their marriage. Amid online speculation suggesting she was underage, the Delta North lawmaker presented what he claims is her voter’s card to support his version of events.
In a statement, Nwoko dismissed the allegations that he married Daniels when she was 17, insisting she was 19 at the time and that their union was both legal and transparent. He emphasized that her family was fully involved, stating, “Her mother personally brought her to me.”
To reinforce his claim, Nwoko posted an image of a voter’s card allegedly belonging to Daniels, which lists her birthdate as October 10, 1998. He said that when they first met, she told him she was 21 and provided the card as proof. “I informed her that I would keep this document in my possession, and I have done so since that day,” he added.
Nwoko also referenced an interview with Daniels’ mother, which he says supports his account of her age. He clarified that their marriage took place six years ago, making Daniels 27 today. “Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be accepted by the public,” he wrote.
In a more pointed part of his statement, the senator questioned Daniels’ credibility, urging the public to be cautious about her recent claims. He alleged that she had previously begun, but did not complete, rehabilitation for drug use, and suggested that her current mental state should be taken into account when evaluating her statements.
Nwoko concluded by stating that all records related to their marriage are verifiable and that the facts speak for themselves.
