NDLEA Arrests 19 Suspects, Seizes Illicit Drugs in Kano Raid

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Kano Strategic Command has arrested 19 suspects and recovered a wide range of illicit substances during a major raid in the Gezawa community of Gezawa Local Government Area.

The development was disclosed on Thursday by the command Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Sadiq Maigatari. He said the operation was part of efforts to protect public health and preserve the sanctity of Ramadan.

According to the statement, the raid was conducted under the leadership of CN DY Lawal as part of the ongoing Operation Ramadan Mubarak. Acting on credible intelligence provided by a concerned community member, operatives moved swiftly to dismantle several drug joints operating within the community.

Items recovered during the operation include cannabis sativa, diazepam, Exol 5, a street product known as Suck and Die, rubber solution, pregabalin tablets, and other assorted controlled substances. All exhibits are currently in NDLEA custody as investigations continue.

Lawal stated that the objective of the operation was to ensure safer streets and enable residents to observe a peaceful Ramadan. He warned that individuals who engage in drug trafficking and abuse would face decisive action, stressing that the agency would continue to protect the wider community.

The command noted that the operation aligns with the directive of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, who has ordered sustained and intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse nationwide.

The Kano Strategic Command reaffirmed its commitment to proactive enforcement and community partnership, urging residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to help curb the menace of illegal drugs.
