National Councillors Forum Endorses Tinubu for 2027 Citing Grassroots Impact of Reforms

The National Councillors Forum of Nigeria has declared its support for President Bola Tinubu re election in the 2027 general election, attributing the endorsement to what it described as bold reforms and visible development at the grassroots level.

The announcement was made on Wednesday in Abuja by the President of the Forum Dr Evoh Okechukwu Nwikegwu during a press conference attended by councillors and stakeholders from across the country. He said the decision followed extensive consultations with serving and former councillors nationwide who are directly involved in implementing government policies at the community level.

Nwikegwu noted that councillors are uniquely positioned to evaluate the real impact of federal policies because of their closeness to the people. According to him they experience firsthand the challenges and aspirations of citizens and help translate national policies into tangible outcomes within local communities.

He explained that the Forum represents more than 8800 councillors spread across Nigeria 774 local government areas the Federal Capital Territory and over 176000 polling units making it one of the largest grassroots political structures in the country. He added that the reach of councillors extends from major cities to the most remote villages.

The Forum commended President Tinubu administration for what it called courageous and forward looking leadership particularly in restoring local government autonomy improving funding and accountability and expanding social investment programmes. It also praised reforms in infrastructure security agriculture and economic management saying the initiatives were already producing positive results at the community level.

Describing the endorsement as evidence based Nwikegwu said the administration had laid a solid foundation for long term national prosperity. He formally declared the Forum total and unconditional support for President Tinubu 2027 bid.

He also called on councillors ward leaders and grassroots mobilisers to begin nationwide mobilisation to strengthen democracy and accelerate development across Nigeria.
