Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan Condemns Kwara Killings Calls for Urgent Security Action

The Senator representing Kogi Central Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan has strongly condemned the recent violent attacks in Kwara State describing the killings as unacceptable and deeply troubling. She warned that the rising wave of insecurity poses a serious threat to national peace unity and stability if left unchecked.

Her reaction followed a deadly attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State where gunmen invaded the communities on Tuesday night. Initial reports indicated that over 100 persons were feared dead before the Kwara State Government later confirmed that at least 75 lives were lost in the attack.

In a related incident bandits also attacked the Abande community in Mbaikyor Ward of Turan in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State resulting in the loss of several lives. The coordinated nature of the attacks has further heightened concerns over worsening security across parts of the country.

In a condolence message personally issued in Abuja the senator expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims and the affected communities. She described the incidents as senseless and tragic losses that have plunged many households into grief and uncertainty.

Akpoti Uduaghan lamented the persistent bloodshed across Nigeria and cautioned that continued insecurity could undermine national cohesion. She urged governments at the federal state and local levels to move beyond words and take urgent decisive and coordinated steps to stem the tide of violence.

According to her protecting lives and ensuring justice must remain non negotiable responsibilities of government. She stressed that the safety of citizens should always be the highest priority and called for prompt and transparent investigations into the Kwara attacks to restore public confidence.

The senator also emphasized the need for intelligence driven security operations stronger community engagement and accountability. She noted that failure to punish perpetrators only emboldens criminal elements and deepens the suffering of affected communities.

She concluded by urging political leaders and security agencies to rise to their constitutional and moral responsibilities to prevent further bloodshed and ensure that Nigerians can live without fear.
