Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has called on Plateau indigenes both at home and in the diaspora to reject tribal ethnic and regional sentiments and embrace unity as the foundation for peace and sustainable development in the state.
The governor made this appeal while receiving a delegation of the Plateau State Association USA during a strategic meeting in Washington DC. According to a communiqué released after the meeting and made available to journalists in Abuja, Mutfwang stressed that the future of Plateau State depends on the collective will of its people to rise above divisions and work together for the common good.
He described unity and mutual understanding as essential pillars for building a peaceful inclusive and prosperous Plateau State that every indigene can be proud of. The governor also expressed appreciation for the continued contributions of the Plateau diaspora noting that the association has remained a vital partner in promoting the interests and development of the state.
Mutfwang outlined the efforts of his administration to stabilise Plateau State strengthen institutions and create an enabling environment for development and investment. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the diaspora and assured the delegation that inclusive engagement remains central to his vision for the state.
Addressing recent political developments the governor explained that his decision to move from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress was taken in what he described as the broader interest of Plateau State and its long term stability. He again urged all indigenes to work collectively toward peace inclusion and prosperity.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation the National President of PSA USA Dr Barth Shepkong called for policy consistency and a more welcoming environment for investors. He noted that the diaspora contribution goes beyond remittances to include skills expertise global networks and investment capacity across key sectors. The association also renewed its support for the creation of a Plateau State Diaspora Commission to strengthen structured engagement and coordination.
