Moroccan authorities reported on January 31 2026 a decline in agricultural output citing prolonged dry conditions that have affected crop yields and rural incomes. The agriculture ministry said rainfall levels remained below average in key farming regions impacting cereals fruits and livestock feed.

Officials noted that reduced harvests have increased pressure on food prices and rural livelihoods. The government said support measures including irrigation assistance subsidies and fodder distribution are being expanded to help farmers cope.

Climate specialists warned that recurring drought underscores the need for long term adaptation strategies such as water efficient farming drought resistant crops and improved storage systems. They also highlighted the importance of early warning and insurance mechanisms.
