Microsoft AI lead Mustafa Suleyman spoke openly about other big names in the field, naming Elon Musk, Demis Hassabis and Sam Altman. When asked for one word to describe Musk, Suleyman chose “bulldozer.”
He explained that he meant Musk seems to reshape reality, often pulling off things that look impossible. Suleyman added that Musk is very direct and unfiltered in how he speaks.
Suleyman also weighed in on the need for rules around AI. He said he believes government has an important role and that regulation can make technologies better. He noted that this view can be controversial in Silicon Valley, but he stands by it.
On Sam Altman and OpenAI, Suleyman praised Altman’s bold approach. He described him as courageous and said Altman is expanding data center capacity faster than most. If Altman succeeds at that pace, Suleyman said the results could be dramatic and that Altman might be remembered as one of the great entrepreneurs of his generation.
Overall, Suleyman gave a mix of respect and caution. He admired the drive and results of his peers while urging clear rules to guide the fast moving field.
