Massive Fire Breaks Out at Guangdong Free Trade Zone in Ogun State

A massive fire erupted on Sunday morning at the Guangdong Free Trade Zone in Igbesa, Ogun State, rapidly spreading from an industrial facility to nearby residential areas. Eyewitnesses reported thick black smoke rising into the sky and intense flames consuming factory structures.

Residents shared videos showing the chaos as families evacuated their homes while emergency responders rushed to contain the blaze. According to local reports, the fire is believed to have started around dawn, possibly from a gas explosion at a foam-producing company within the industrial park. The flames quickly spread, damaging several nearby homes before firefighters could fully intervene.

The Director of the Ogun State Fire Service, Fatai Adefala, confirmed the incident to PUNCH Online, stating that emergency teams from Agbara and Ota had been on the ground for over three hours working to bring the fire under control. As of press time, authorities have not confirmed the exact cause of the fire, and there are no reports of casualties or injuries.
