Manchester United have reportedly reignited their interest in Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, currently captaining Besiktas in Turkey, as the Red Devils look to strengthen their squad for next season’s Champions League push.

According to talkSPORT, United’s recruitment team is evaluating short-term midfield reinforcements, with Ndidi emerging as a leading option. The Super Eagles captain is valued for his leadership, positional discipline, and defensive intelligence qualities he showcased during his six-year spell at Leicester City, where he became one of the Premier League’s most reliable ball-winning midfielders.

Ndidi was previously linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2025 when Leicester’s relegation clause made him available for £9.5m, but no transfer materialized. Now, with United seeking experienced midfielders to provide stability amid squad rotation concerns, the Nigerian international could make a return to England. Sources note that Ndidi has personal and footballing aspirations to return to the Premier League.

Since joining Besiktas, Ndidi has assumed the captaincy and anchored the midfield, further bolstering his profile as a seasoned option for a United side that often relies on younger talent. Other midfield candidates, such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek, are also under consideration, but Ndidi’s Premier League experience and leadership keep him firmly in the conversation.
