Man Arrested on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway After Human Remains Found in Vehicle

Operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol have arrested a man on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State after discovering bones and other items suspected to be human remains concealed in a passenger’s luggage.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said the suspect, identified as Kazeem Ayegbo, was traveling from Lagos to Osogbo when his vehicle was stopped for a routine search near Guru Maharaji Village. A red cloth containing the items was recovered, prompting his immediate arrest. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and intended purpose of the suspected human parts, with inquiries extending beyond Oyo State.

“The command assures residents that the case is being handled professionally and diligently,” Osifeso stated, adding that the suspect would be charged in court once investigations are concluded. He urged the public to continue cooperating with the police by providing timely and credible information to aid security efforts.

In a separate incident, the police confirmed a suspected murder at a construction site in Ibadan’s Iyana-Ajia area. A disagreement between two casual workers escalated when 22-year-old Lawal Ibrahim allegedly stabbed 18-year-old Raimi Ige with a broken bottle. The victim later died en route to the hospital. Ibrahim has been arrested, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for further investigation before court proceedings.
