Malik Beasley, the 29-year-old guard formerly with the Detroit Pistons, has denied rumors of an imminent deal with Serbian club Partizan Belgrade. Reports had circulated that he was close to signing a $2 million contract for the remainder of the season, but Beasley’s agent, Brian Jungreis, asserted that such claims are inflated: “These are exaggerated reports. We had conversations and some framework, but nowhere close to anything closing or happening for the moment.”

Beasley himself took to Instagram to reject the idea, stating, “I’m not going to Serbia. I wish y’all motherf….ers would know that. I’m not coming.” The speculation arose after Beasley became a free agent following the 2024-25 NBA season, where he performed notably, averaging 16.3 points and almost four three-pointers per game. His strong showing put him in line for a contract extension with Detroit; however, discussions stalled due to his involvement in a federal gambling investigation, for which he has not been charged and is not considered a target.

Despite these setbacks, Beasley remains determined to return to the NBA. His agent emphasized that any overseas contract would include an opt-out clause for potential NBA opportunities, countering misinformation about being locked into a foreign contract without such a provision. Jungreis stated, “The report of no NBA out is 100% inaccurate. We’d never not have that in the case he were to play anywhere else than the NBA.”

Currently, Beasley is waiting for clearance from the NBA and federal authorities, hopeful to resume his professional basketball career in the United States.
