The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of CSP Bolaji Olugbenga, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ijanikin Police Station. Olugbenga reportedly collapsed in his office on Thursday evening and passed away before he could be transported to a hospital.
This tragic event marks the second time within a week that a DPO in Lagos has collapsed and died in the same area. The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident on Friday night.
The news of Olugbenga’s death has plunged the officers at Ijanikin Police Station into mourning. Sources have indicated that his body has been moved to a mortuary.
Previous Incident Involving Seme DPO
This incident follows the death of Superintendent of Police (SP) Mojeed Salami, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Seme Division in Lagos State Command, earlier in the week. SP Salami also collapsed in his office on Tuesday, January 10, and was declared dead at the hospital where he was rushed for treatment.
It was reported that Salami felt unwell and had sent his orderly to call the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO). Unfortunately, the orderly returned to find him collapsed on the floor, struggling to breathe.
