Lagos APC Postpones State Executive Inauguration After Death of Newly Elected Official

The All Progressives Congress in Lagos has postponed the planned inauguration of its newly elected state executives following the sudden death of the party’s Assistant Publicity Secretary elect, Yesiro Karamo.

Karamo reportedly d on Wednesday, just hours after attending the Lagos State APC congress held on Tuesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Onikan, where he was elected to the position of Assistant Publicity Secretary.

The Lagos chapter of the ruling party confirmed the development in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, on Thursday. The statement expressed deep shock and sorrow over the sudden loss of the party official.

According to the party, Karamo’s death represents a painful moment for members and supporters, particularly at a time when his dedication and commitment to progressive politics were expected to contribute significantly to the party’s activities.

The statement noted that Karamo had just been entrusted with a major responsibility within the State Executive Council and was widely admired for his loyalty, passion, and belief in the ideals of the party.

Party members and supporters had gathered at the APC secretariat in Acme, Ogba, on Thursday morning for the scheduled inauguration ceremony. However, they were informed that the event had been postponed in honour of the late party official.

Following the announcement, several party leaders left the secretariat to pay a condolence visit to Karamo’s family and express their sympathies during the difficult period.

Sources within the party later circulated information indicating that the inauguration of the state executive committee had been rescheduled for Friday.

The newly elected Lagos APC executive committee, which will serve for a four year term, is led by chairman Cornelius Ojelabi.

The congress where the executives were elected was attended by several prominent political figures including Babajide Sanwo Olu, Obafemi Hamzat, Mudasiru Obasa, Tajudeen Olusi, Bimbola Salu Hundeyin, former governor Akinwunmi Ambode, governorship aspirant Olajide Adediran, and former senator Ganiyu Solomon.

Party leaders described Karamo’s death as a tragic loss and prayed for strength and comfort for his family and the party during this period of mourning.
