Lady Gaga has launched the music video for her new single “The Dead Dance,” directed by Tim Burton, on September 3, 2025. This collaboration, marking their first project together, was filmed on the eerie Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco, Mexico. The video features Gaga as a haunting, doll-like figure, showcasing stylized choreography that transitions from black-and-white visuals to vibrant, gothic sequences—a hallmark of Burton’s distinctive aesthetic.

“The Dead Dance” is part of Gaga’s reissued album, “Mayhem,” co-written and produced by Gaga, Andrew Watt, and Henry Walter (Cirkut). The track combines spooky elements with danceable beats, continuing Gaga’s tradition of merging avant-garde visuals and music. This project represents a full-circle moment for Gaga, particularly in relation to the Netflix series “Wednesday,” where her song “Bloody Mary” gained massive popularity in the first season. In the upcoming second season, Gaga will appear as Rosaline Rotwood, a mysterious teacher at Nevermore Academy, further intertwining her art with the show’s themes.

Set against the haunting backdrop of the Island of the Dolls, the music video’s eerie atmosphere enhances its enchanting yet macabre aesthetic. Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with fans celebrating the cinematic quality of the video, especially as it aligns with the Halloween season. “The Dead Dance” is now available on all major streaming platforms, offering a glimpse into Gaga’s latest artistic venture.
