The Labour Party (LP) has unveiled a new initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilization and empowering youth leaders nationwide as part of its strategy for the 2027 general elections.
The party emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among young people as essential drivers of the change needed to secure the presidency.
Speaking at the National Youth Leaders Conference on Wednesday in Abuja, Marcel Ngogbehei, Director-General of the Labour Party Directorate of Mobilization and Integration, highlighted the vital role of youth leaders in shaping Nigeria’s political future.
Ngogbehei stressed the importance of grassroots leadership in promoting national unity and bridging gaps between stakeholders and communities. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to supporting youth leaders through training programs, advocacy initiatives, and providing tools to enhance their effectiveness in political engagement.
He outlined the party’s focus on creating an inclusive and accessible political environment where youths are central to policy-making and strategy development. According to him, this approach is critical for addressing key national challenges such as security, economic empowerment, education, sustainable development, and governance reforms.
“The energy, creativity, and commitment you bring to our party are not only inspiring but essential as we work to build a stronger and more inclusive Labour Party and Nigeria,” Ngogbehei said.
He encouraged youth leaders to use the conference as a platform for strategizing, building networks, and formulating actionable solutions to the nation’s most pressing issues.
“Our nation is at a pivotal point, and your role as youth leaders cannot be understated. You are not just the voice of tomorrow—you are the force of today.
“We must ensure that the concerns, aspirations, and visions of young people are not only heard but are central to our policies and strategies,” he added.
The Labour Party’s grassroots mobilization initiative underscores its commitment to fostering youth engagement, uniting diverse communities, and building a stronger foundation for achieving its political goals in the 2027 elections.
