Kogi CP Nasiru Bello Kankarofi Honoured for Leadership and Community Policing

The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Nasiru Bello Kankarofi, has received a special award of recognition from Mogaji Ibrahim, National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), for his leadership and impact within three months of assuming office.

The award was presented during a visit by the PCRC chairman to the Kogi State Police Headquarters in Lokoja, according to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Saliu Afusat. Ibrahim commended Kankarofi for notable improvements in operational efficiency, intelligence-driven policing, and strengthened community engagement, describing these as evidence of purposeful leadership and a clear strategic direction in addressing security challenges across the state.

“The progress recorded in a short period has significantly boosted public confidence and reinforced the PCRC’s commitment to supporting the command’s initiatives,” Afusat quoted Ibrahim as saying. The chairman also applauded the command’s collaboration with critical stakeholders in combating crime.

Responding, Commissioner Kankarofi expressed gratitude to the PCRC leadership and reaffirmed his dedication to professional, intelligence-led, and people-centred policing aligned with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police. He presented a commemorative plaque to the PCRC chairman, symbolising mutual respect and sustained collaboration between the command and the committee.

The commissioner reiterated the importance of community cooperation, urging residents to provide credible information and support ongoing security operations. “Security is a collective responsibility,” he emphasized, assuring the public of the command’s sustained operational momentum.

The recognition highlights Kankarofi’s commitment to enhancing public trust, fostering community partnerships, and driving proactive policing initiatives in Kogi State.
