The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally denied any membership link with Senator Dino Melaye and demanded that he stop presenting himself as part of the party.

Tayo John, the party’s Public Relations Officer, said in Lokoja on Friday that Melaye is not known as an ADC member at ward, local government, or state level. John accused Melaye of interfering in party matters and of using the ADC name for public attention.

“He is not a member of ADC in Kogi State. He is not known in his ward as a member of our party,” John stated. He added that Melaye has not paid membership dues nor taken part in party activities, requirements the party sees as essential for valid membership.

John described Melaye as an impostor whose actions conflict with ADC values. He said Melaye cannot claim to speak for the party or represent it in any forum.

The spokesman reaffirmed that Hon. Leke Abejide, elected twice to the House of Representatives on the ADC platform, remains a recognised national leader and financial member since 2018. John said any attempt to suspend or remove Abejide from office is unlawful and that Abejide has taken legal action.

The ADC called on INEC, the Inspector‑General of Police, and the public to ignore Melaye’s statements and political claims. John warned that attempts to seize control of the party for personal gain would not be tolerated and noted that the outcomes of two ongoing court cases will decide who legitimately leads the party.
