Kenya has announced the start of new discussions with regional partners aimed at addressing growing cross border security challenges. The talks are expected to focus on cooperation against terrorism, armed criminal networks and instability along shared borders.

Government officials said the initiative reflects concerns over the movement of armed groups and the spillover of conflicts from neighboring countries. Kenya is seeking closer intelligence sharing, joint patrols and coordinated responses with East African and Horn of Africa nations.

The discussions will also examine the impact of insecurity on trade routes and local communities living near border regions. Authorities stressed that improving security is essential to protecting civilians and sustaining economic activity.
