In a significant initiative against corruption, the Kenyan government has launched a specialized task force aimed at investigating high-profile corruption cases. This task force is designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of anti-corruption measures statewide and operates under the State Department for Justice. It includes representatives from various key agencies, such as the Executive Office of the President, the Attorney General’s Office, the National Intelligence Service, and others.

President William Ruto emphasized the need for a coordinated “whole of government approach” to tackle corruption, which he cited as a major barrier to Kenya’s progress. The formation of this task force follows recent legislative updates, including the Conflict of Interest Act of 2025 and amendments to the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act, which have reinforced Kenya’s legal stance against graft.

As part of a broader anti-corruption strategy, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) reported significant progress in prosecutions, with 33 individuals convicted in the 2024/2025 financial year nearly triple the previous year’s total and Sh3.4 billion recovered, underscoring a robust commitment to protecting public resources.

Moreover, the Kenya Revenue Authority has implemented technological solutions like the iWhistle platform, enabling anonymous public reporting of corruption and tax evasion. This platform has played a crucial role in recovering Sh4.22 billion during the 2023/2024 fiscal year.
